If ever there was an indicator of the recovery of the tourism sector in Mauritius and the optimism of the airlines, this is it. Emirates is increasing the number of daily flights between Dubai and Plaisance (Mauritius) from two to three from October 1 to January 31, during the high season.

“Emirates’ third daily flight to Mauritius will operate according to the following schedule: EK 709 will leave Dubai at 10:10 pm and arrive in Mauritius at 4:45 am. EK 710 will leave Mauritius at 6:30 a.m. and arrive in Dubai at 1:05 p.m.,” said a press release issued by Emirates, adding that “this third daily flight will increase the number of seats to and from Mauritius by approximately 35%. The three daily flights are operated in code-share with Air Mauritius to provide better access and a seamless travel experience to and from the island.

130 destinations from Dubai

The Dubai hub will enable passengers departing from Mauritius to connect to Emirates’ global network of 130 destinations. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO of Emirates Airline & Group said: “We thank the Mauritian authorities for considering our request to operate a third daily flight. Air connectivity is essential to international tourism, and these additional seats will help us bring even more visitors from across our network to Mauritius, and meet the growing demand. Emirates is committed to playing a key role in promoting inbound travel and helping the government achieve its target of welcoming 1.4 million tourists by June 2023.” Emirates’ third daily service between Dubai and Mauritius will also provide corporate customers with 30 to 40 tons of cargo capacity.
Emirates began operations to Mauritius in September 2002 with three weekly flights.
