Malawian entrepreneur Clement Kandodo has developed a biodigester, a technical device for transforming excreta and other organic waste into natural gas. This transformation goes through a natural fermentation process which degrades organic matter to obtain methane, a less toxic and less explosive gas than butane commonly used in households. The device also has the particularity of producing green electricity from this waste.
Unlike traditional biogas systems which mainly use cow dung, EcoGen biodigesters can be used with any organic waste, including agricultural waste, kitchen waste, etc. Through this initiative, Clement Kandodo wants to provide sustainable technological solutions for the production of renewable energies.
EcoGen promotes a circular economy where waste is a source of development for Malawi.
