The PAREO project aims to develop an innovative awareness-raising program for the protection of coral reefs in the Indian Ocean. Four islands in the region are taking part in the program: Réunion, Mauritius, Comoros and Seychelles.

The PAREO #2 project continues to move forward. Following teacher training in April, the NGO Reef Conservation will be visiting the four schools taking part in the program in May, June and October, to educate and raise awareness among children of the reef environment, introduce them to the MARECO kit and take them out into the field.
Reef Conservation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the coastal and marine environment of Mauritius. It is the official pilot of the PAREO #2 project in Mauritius.
In Mauritius, the project began in April 2023 and will end in October 2023. Several actions are planned: passing on knowledge to children using the MARECO kit, connecting to the environment through art, field trips and class projects, networking players (children, decision-makers, associations) for a shared vision of coral reef protection.
At the end of May, mid-June and the beginning of October, pupils from four Mauritian schools leave their classrooms for an expedition at sea and on land.
