As the Islamist insurgency in the gas province of Cabo Delgado escalates, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi traveled to Dodoma in Tanzania to try to find further support in the fight against fighters affiliated with the Islamic State.

Filipe Nyusi, President of Mozambique arrived in Dodoma, Tanzania, where he met his counterpart John Magufuli, to discuss the terrorist threat in the gas province of Cabo Delgado, in the northeast of the Portuguese-speaking country. At the end of the discussions, the two parties agreed to strengthen their cooperation on the security plan in order to jointly fight against the Islamist insurgents, in this zone which borders the border with Tanzania. To achieve this, the two leaders indicated that their two states will institute a common tax on defense and security. It should be remembered that police officials from the two countries agreed in November to start joint operations to fight the insurgents.
