L’Aventure du Sucre was recently awarded the prestigious Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice 2022 Award, the highest honor given by the world’s largest travel and tourism review site Tripadvisor. The Travellers’ Choice Award recognizes the best in tourism, according to those who matter most: the customers, and represents a true testament to outstanding service. The heritage site reinforces its place among the top 10% of the best experiences in the world.

“We are very proud to receive this Traveller’s Choice 2022 award, which once again recognizes the excellence of the unforgettable experiences we offer at L’Aventure du Sucre. We warmly thank our visitors for their glowing comments on the Tripadvisor platform,” says Sandrine Marrier d’Unienville, the site’s cultural development and communications manager.

Even during a difficult period due to the pandemic, L’Aventure du Sucre has continued to innovate to offer positive experiences to its customers. Violaine Cateaux, the museum’s manager, says that a lot of content was developed online during the closure periods in order to keep in touch with the public and continue to share valuable content about the history of the country and the making of the famous special sugars. When the site resumed operations, it introduced original tour concepts that bring together all ages and all audiences, combining discovery and entertainment. Visitors can opt for a guided tour in English and French, ranging from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, or choose the digital companion available in 7 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin or Russian. Arabic will soon be added to this offer. The young people benefit from a dedicated course and are guided through the stories told by the mascots Raj the Martin and Florise the Mongoose. They also have a booklet of games and discovery. The youngest have a “toddler course” adapted to their age. The experience continues in the Village Boutik. Anna Reymann, the manager of the store, points out that visitors are invited to participate in an interactive tasting workshop of eleven natural Mauritian sugars and a workshop to discover the flavors of 17 rums from the New Grove house. They can savor a total of more than 40 Mauritian products including honeys, vanilla, jams and buy beautiful souvenirs and delicacies based on special sugars developed by the artisans partners of the place. “We are very proud to introduce holidaymakers to high quality local products and to participate fully in the circular economy of our island” she says.

L’Aventure du Sucre’s director, Edwige Gufflet, was thrilled to receive another award from Tripadvisor. “For its 20th anniversary, l’Aventure du Sucre receives a great gift from its visitors. It is a true recognition of the innovative work done by our team of 60 employees during the pandemic. The improvements implemented have focused on customer satisfaction, personalized welcome and service, and visitors have obviously been sensitive to this. Moreover, this award contributes to the reputation of the Beau Plan and Grapefruit region, and more globally of our island.
