Kalmar, a subsidiary of Cargotec, and DMP, Kalmar’s regional concessionaire, have signed a contract for the delivery of eight diesel electric straddle carriers for the Reunion Island terminal. Four of the machines will be delivered to SGM Handling and four to the handling and shipping company (SOMACOM). The order was recorded in Cargotec’s order intake in Q4 2020, delivery to be completed in Q3 2021

The new Kalmar straddle trucks delivered to SOMACOM and SGM will be powered by a highly efficient diesel-electric powertrain and feature excellent maneuverability, quiet operation and easy maintenance. The spacious and ergonomic cab and intuitive user interface will help improve productivity by ensuring operators have the best possible driving experience.
Mr. Arnaud Brac, Chairman of SGM and Mr. Daniel Rigat, CEO of Somacom: “We have relied on Kalmar equipment for many years and Kalmar has always delivered in terms of performance, availability and energy efficiency. We have modernized our existing fleet of Kalmar aircraft carriers with new units over the years, and we hope that these new machines will allow us to take advantage of the latest technological advances to improve operational capabilities in Reunion. ”
